    Landscapes: Imagined and Observed

2 Day Workshop at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek, Wisconsin

    Jul 10, 11 • 9:00 AM-4:00 PM

Driven by playful exploration, this workshop will examine the visual language of the landscape. Utilizing strategies to simplify compositions, distill imagery, and invent space, you will create a series of plein air sketches and paintings to later be used as reference for abstraction and experimentation in the studio.

You will begin by documenting the surrounding landscape while working on-site with sketching and painting materials; exploring composition and identifying value and color. You will then bring your observed work into the studio to use as inspiration for landscapes of your own imagining. A lecture and series of exercises will help you select your favorite moments from the plein air works, such as palette combinations, shapes, mark-making, or imagery, to inform a new painting.

Register through The Penisula School of Art. There are still a couple spots open!
